The original blogging survey revealed some interesting results even though only 39 bloggers participated in the survey.
After the results were published, soon more people became aware of the survey, and I believe it would be possible to get a big bunch of participants now, so let us try it again.
People who participated in the original survey are not automatically counted in in this - please submit once again.
Edit: The live results page is published.
The original idea was to make it a socializing survey, where bloggers should comment on a post here or post their results on their own blog. It is a huge job to collect the data that way, so I have coded a small survey script instead.
I will let this survey be open forever (yeah!), and hopefully soon create a live result page on my blog.
Please take your time to fill it out and submit it, it’s only 21 questions, and should be completed quickly.

I joined in the fun. Thanks for organizing this and for keeping the questionnaire accessible and straightforward.
I looked at the results, they are surprising. I thought most people had free hosting for their blog and so far 91% host their blog against 9% who use a free hosting service. Interesting.

Well, I’m not sure that free blog users are going to see all of these sorts of activities — especially not non-Wordpress.com users. On the other hand, self-hosted blog users are probably more likely to be paying attention to community-oriented news and the like, either through their dashboard or other means.

Honestly hadn’t thought about any of this stuff before. It was interesting to search my motivations. Some say blogging is very self-indulgent, but I can’t count the number of people who have encouraged me to write more and more and more - it sometimes feels like I’m writing because THEY think it should be done. But it is good to have something to motivate me to keep on writing, whatever it is.

There is a problem with the survey:
if you miss a question, it tells you to go back, but when you go back, it ‘forgets’ some of the answers.
this is very likely to skew the results.
