I finally got around to finish up my portfolio and business site. Finish up might be a wrong word, cause I plan to expand the example page every time I get a new job done.
Actually, the site is rather small - but none the less it took some time to do. It is powered by WordPress, and the example page is using SlideShowPro to feature a gallery.
SlideShowPro uses an XML file to know what images should be shown, and what album it belongs in, and I decided to let WordPress create this XML file, and simply be able to manage everything from within WordPress.
- Each album in is a category in WordPress.
- Each post within the categories has one or multiple images attached through WordPress’ own inline uploader.
- A custom script cycles through each category and all posts, and grabs attachement info along with descriptions, titles, custom fields etc. and outputs an XML file.
- SlideShowPro imports the XML file and thereby shows the data.
A SlideShowPro license costs $20, but it is really worth it, and is, in my opinion, a great way of showing a big bunch of images.
Along with the new site I have cleaned up the blog a bit, and deleted the old portfolio category here, along with the posts it contained.

Looks great! Plus the SlideShowPro stuff is hot. You mention it’s great for “showing a big bunch of images” - Even better is Todd/BradleyBoy’s SlideShowPro Director, if you truly have massive amounts of images. (And hey, I don’t even work for Todd :-)

Kel> Yea, I looked at the director too, but i thought that WordPress would fit my needs on this. For now I am quite satisfied :)
And thanks :)

Hello,
You seem to be versed in the intricacies of slideshowpro and various other systems like wordpress. Please take a look at my website. I am interested in combining slideshow with a user comment system. This is a service i would also be willing to pay for. Do you have any suggestions/experience with this? I am assuming an image change in ssp can fire an event which will pass variables to a wordpress page which would show the relevant comments for instance.. I would apprecciate any insights. Thanks, Yasha
